Chinatown Street food - small waffle-like treats

wurstle | Jan 2, 2004 02:47 PM

Walking through Chinatown yesterday and saw a cart on Canal Street near Bayard with a long line of non-touristy looking people. The people in the cart were pouring pre-made batter into a cast-iron griddle and selling the results 20 for $1.00. Bought some and they were rather delicious - warm round little waffle-like things. Wanted more instantly! Anyone know what they are or had them before? Can you get these all the time or only sometimes? Are some carts selling better ones than others?
