Chinatown: mid-range with kids [San Francisco]

It seems like I'm always requesting advice for mediocre restaurants to appease boring visitors with budget constraints, haha. I'm finding myself in the same position yet again. We have family visiting with two children (group of 6 total) who are unadventurous eaters and want to have dinner in Chinatown. Is Z & Y / Great Eastern our best options and which would you recommend for a broader menu selection; ie. not limiting choices to select dishes, which I realize is often the best way to go in Chinatown. I'd refrain from the option with several "really strong" dishes or highlights, in favor of the "can't go wrong-everything is pretty good" option, since I can't predict what anyone will order, especially with kids. I haven't been to Z & Y in a couple of years though I ordered a Peking Duck several months ago and it was fantastic. Is this our best bet? Visitors are used to rather homogenized East Coast Szechuan/Cantonese flavors.
