China Tofu in Union City- Trip# 3

Han Lukito | May 28, 200311:56 AM

As I said before that I will try all their menus (almost all) save for the innards stuff. This will be one of many series of reports-probably around 6-8 trips at the most should cover it. You can read the others if you search under China Tofu. This report will be a reminder for myself also. I love this place because it's not too far and the prices are very reasonable.

-Preserved vegetables with shredded pork: the thinly sliced vegs had a very slight hint of bitterness and sweet at the same time. It was simply sauteed with some shredded pork. My sis-in-law liked it but not me. $3.99

-Pork (bacon) with preserved vegetables: in Hakka, it's called "kao-yuk". Sliced fatty bacon cooked in dark broth with small pieces of preserved vegs. It lacked flavor that I usually associated with an excellent version of this type but for $4.99 it's OK but I would not reorder these.

-Seafood with stinky tofu claypot: various pieces of calamari cut in criss-cross on the surface, shrimps, scallops, thinly sliced carrots and bamboo, fried stinky tofu in a thickened brown sauce. Good ingredients but I would prefer bolder flavor. $5.99

Next, I will try the spare ribs (Mandarin style?) and other dishes. They looked succulent and delicious.
