I know I know, you hear buffet and reflexively want to roll your eyes but hear me out. The Chinese food and the sushi bars are pretty good as far a buffets go but that's not what I want to talk about. A few months ago they added a couple of interesting options in the very back of the restaurant. First, and my favorite, is a hot noddle soup bar. You start by choosing among four noodle options, which they heat for you in simmering water. You then choose from among 6 different broths. Lastly, you choose your toppings, which include a wide variety of things like roast duck, shrimp, pork wontons, green onions, fried onions, fried garlic, egg, various steamed greens, and so on. Second, they have a mongolian grill setup there too where you pick the proteins, veg, and sauce you want and they cook it up for you right then and there. So mostly skip the usual buffet offerings and head to the back to try these options instead. I think it's $7.50 for lunch and around $10 for dinner. For AYCE that's a bargain.
In case you don't know where China Buffet is it's next to the Chuck E. Cheese where the mostly defunct shopping center next to Sam's Club is.
