Chickpeas in Curry sauce; New TJ's find!

I've been on a hummus kick, all well and good. I've been buying the canned chickpeas at Trader Joe's...Last time, I saw, for the same amount of cash and calories, "Chickpeas in an Indian-inspired Curry Sauce" right next to the regular ones...

"Well", I thought, "I'll bite"...

I thought it would be chickpeas, with maybe a few spices flavoring the broth...But they were in a wondeful spicy sauce, that would be perfectly acceptable as a veggie entree, heated and put over rice; with vegetables cooked in, it would be a lovely, easy supper..

But I came for the hummus...I drained the sauce off, added a tablesspoon or two of tahimi, garlic, lemon juice and some cilantro, because it seemed a better match than parsley....JUST GREAT! This stuff has bite...Curiously, the only mistake I made was adding the sauce back, instead of my usual water for hummus...The heat of the spices seemed to be concentrated IN the chickpeas, not in the sauce. Strange, but I'm still eating way too much of it...This stuff is great!
