Must chicken/duck fat be refrigerated? Gee? Lard

As duck fat was used in confit to preserve duck in a pantry in the old days, can I assume that the fat itself need not be refrigerated. Ditto for chicken fat?

And what about Gee which I believe is simply clarified butter. If so, how long is it good for outside refrigeration?

Lard is sold in rendered blocks and can be shelf stored. I assume that means that if you render your own lard it needn't be refrigerated either??
