I've checked the prior threads on the subject and have found a little less than I would like on my particular question.
I have an out-of-town visitor who loves good steak and so I want to find a Chicago steakhouse (thus ruling out Ruth's Chris, Smith & Wollensky etc.). I want one downtown. I want one that will not break the bank (or break it as little as possible, thus likely ruling out The Palm).
My constraints don't leave me with as many options as I would like. I have had nothing but bad experiences at Gene & Georgetti. I am presently leaning toward Chicago Chop House but have never been.
I eagerly solicit words of wisdom from steak aficionados. We are not after the biggest pieces of meat, so that aspect of Gibson's doesn't seduce me. And, finally, I understand and agree with the recommendation of ethnic, but this time I want a (non-ethnic) steakhouse. Morton's? Chop House? Elsewhere?
