Tonight, I had a craving for a Chicago Beef sandwich and saw advertising for Weinberger's Deli that just opened up on Rufe Snow north of Mid Cities Blvd. in Watugua. Waiting in line (yes it was long and only one person trying to make all the sanwiches)I saw one of the employees take out a portion of beef and put it in a container in the gravy for a few minutes. Chicago people know that you simmer the beef in the gravy to make a truly Chicago Beef sandwich not take a "sandwich portion" out of the fridge and put it in gravy for a couple of mninutes! That lost my appetite for a beef so I ordered a couple of Chicago Dogs. The cashier tried to ram me with a menu and some promotion for when I come back next time. When I said there wouldn't be a "next time" she chased me into the parking lot wanting to know what was up. I drove down the street, opened my dogs and found that the buns were cold and the hot dog was warm at best. Disgusting! The buns should be steamed and the hot dog "hot" (that's why they call it a HOT dog").
I am sorry for not driving a couple of miles north to Rufe Snow and Tarrant in Keller to eat at Windy City Grill. Now that place really knows how to make a Chicago Beef and Hot Dog!!!!
