Cheese Steaks - Grand Central Market (Review)

Just got back from an early lunch at Grand Central. Passed by the new Philly cheese spot and was amazed to see that they have a "grand opening" combo special (7" Philly, Fries and Drink) for $2.99! I thought, that's super super cheap. Cheaper than McDonalds! Anyway, a co-worker had told me about this place so I put my reservations about price being an indicator of quality aside and tried it out . . .

Happy to say that there's a new inexpensive, hound-worthy lunch option in Downtown! For the money, you really can't beat this place. The sandwich was jam packed with thinly sliced steak, grilled onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, and provolone. All on a hot crusty roll. All kinds of sides, lettuce & tomato if you want, condiments, etc. - I just went for the hot peppers.

In the time it took to walk up to the upper eating area on Hill St., the meat and the cheese had formed a molten mixture of gooey goodness, making the so-called "Philly Lean" a necessity. Juice dripping started w/ the first bite . . . always the sign of a good cheese steak. Fries were good too, seasoned with Lawry’s, just the way I like ‘em.

Service was friendly and fast, as it always is at the Market, and you can watch the guys build your sandwich on the spot. Here’s the info from the funny neon flyer that was handed to me. Looks like they take phone orders too:
