I had to stop today at a polish market to pick of kielbasa for easter for some family that can only get the supermarket stuff where they live. While I was there, I decided to pick up some cheese pierogi. The husband likes the store-bought ones, and eatig them is a *huge* adventure for him, as he's an all-American, if it's not meat and potatoes it's not a real meal kinda man. However, if I sneak in "the real thing" of some supermarket version of ethnic food I've gotten him to try, he usually likes it.
No so with these cheese pierogi. I didn't even like them. Wait... They were okay, but they were nothing like I expected. They were sweet, and would have tasted great had they been sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, not sauteed in butter and a touch of bacon grease as I did.
Is this something different than what I thought? I expected them to be filled with potato and cheese, with a smidge of onion. Any tips on what to buy next time would be great, as well as what to do with the remaining ones I have.
