checking on make-ahead mashed potatoes

I searched the boards here a few people mention make-ahead mashed potatoes. (One promising idea was to reheat in a slow cooker.) But before I experiment with this for Thanksgiving, I'd like to hear whether people think the quality is up to snuff with this approach, and also whether any recipe adjustments are necessary.
