Cheap hits of OK, MO, OH for road trip

Spoony Bard | Mar 23, 200403:02 PM

Hello, Midwest Board!

I'm an LA chowhound driving through your region on my way to Columbus, OH, and just wanted to share the don't misses I've culled from this board in the hopes that you can comment. Probably can't do all of them, but these are what I've learned are some of the best choices. Cheap is the word, as me and my buddy are in our early 20's and impoverished. Food quality is important, but a place with locals, other young folks or a notable landmark is something I'd love to see too!

OKC:

-Grand House (dim sum)
-Cao Nguyen (supermarket)
-Lido (vietnamese, lunch)
-Lottinville's (lamb sandwich)

Kansas City, MO:

-Gate's (best fries)
-Jack's Stack
-LC's
-Boardroom (how to choose from the above???)

St. Louis:

-probably will be too busy with Wash U. students to do any houndly pursuits here

Columbus:

-Basi Italia (expensive?)
-Brownstone
-Burgundy Room
-Katzinger's (esp. Key Lime pie)

Thanks to all!
