North Carolina Chowhound here. My husband and I are visiting San Francisco for five days, and we are excited to try interesting, inexpensive restaurants, since we are on a tight budget. It'd be nice to enjoy one fancier meal, but we're limited to $100. We're staying in Union Square and aren't renting a car, but we're happy to take mass transit. We're looking for places that aren't too crowded and have good food. Otherwise, we're open to suggestion. (I'm fairly sure we'll be going to Cav and Bodega Bistro.)
We're also looking for as many good coffee places that you might recommend. It's quality of coffee we're going for more than atmosphere.
Thanks for any and all help! In my experience, guidebooks can't compare to Chowhound.
