I did a search several pages deep already and found some recommendations, but some were getting old (2001!), so I decided to post a new thread.
My 7 year old daughter, my husband, and I will be going to Legoland (Carlsbad) and the SD County Fair (Del Mar) this coming weekend. We may wander into SD but not sure yet. We're trying to travel inexpensively, and food expenses adds up. We'll end up eating lunch at the attractions on two days, but we'll need three dinner places and at least one lunch/brunch place that are fairly inexpensive, yet yummy. I'd like to be able to spend no more than $5/entree for lunch and no more than $10/dinner per person... since I'm also on a diet... I'm thinkin' of sharing w/my daughter too!
As an example, we were in Carlsbad several years ago and had just left Legoland, but we were starving and drove to Restaurant Row. EVERY restaurant was packed (except for one extremely expensive chop shop), so we drove away even hungrier. We ended up going to a Mexican restaurant in the middle of a strip mall and paid no more than $10 total for dinner. It was the best food ever (OK, we were also starving!).
