Last year I was in the far East Bay on September 11. For my annual tradition of eating a halal meal to mark the day, stand against bigotry, and support a Muslim-American business, I ordered Afghani food to go from Naan and Kabob Bazaar. https://www.chowhound.com/post/seekin...
One of my favorite Afghani specialties is chapli kabob, the smashed ground beef patties spiked with cumin and chiles. This was particularly spicy hot and served on a bed of fluffy basmati rice with a square of fresh naan. Nice crunchy crusting on the beef and well-seasoned but I missed the green chutney that I like so much with DeAfghanan's version.
Usually I'm not much of a bolani fan, but I would get this mixed one again filled with creamy potato puree and leeks. Besides being tasty, it was huge filling up a large pizza box.
The lady cashier here is especially personable, greeting her regulars by name and knowing their usual orders. I'd return when I'm in the area again.
