Mr Keeper and I were in Florida this past 10 days on our usual summer break from the harsh reality of NH winter. We decided on Catfish Dewey;s (in Ft Lauderdale)on Friday for lunch after a morning of shopping at the outlet . I ordered the blackened scallops, and hubby opted for the AYCE fried scallops with the fried catfish fillets..
O-M-G... I got my plate of blackened scallops and my husband DOVE in... he loved them! I did as well. After he absconded with about half of my plate I raided his catfish fillets in retaliation. They were incredible. I am not one to offer up kudos often with service either, but Shawn our server was not only swift, but a mind reader as well! He knew when we needed refills on soda before we noted they were low.. in fact there was one time I looked up and I had a full soda, and did not even realize he had replaced it! Scallops were a' plenty and they were cooked to perfection...The food and the service were unbelievable, on my $40 lunch tab I left $15 tip THAT is how much I loved it.
If you leave Catfish Dewey's hungry, you need a gastric bypass, there is no way humanly possible to leave this place unhappy with service if Shawn is your server either. He has been there for 10 years and lives upstairs (he told us ) now THAT is devotion to your job.
I would recommend this place to anyone with an affinity to seafood. I hear they also have an old fashioned hoedown once a month!
What a delight, it was not our first visit (we went for the shrimp on Monday....) and we left feeling like a "stuffed shrimp" pun intended... LOL and it won't be our last!
