Carnitas options in Oakland??

Eugene Park | Jun 1, 200509:28 PM

There have been a few threads about carnitas that mention some spots in Oakland. I've been loyal to El Taco Zamarano @ High & International for many years, but am wondering if there might be an even better spot in East Oakland (both taste and especially price-wise, as ETZ's ample carnitas plate now goes for $9.95). I've heard Jalisco's mentioned. Anyone else have some thoughts? I don't mind driving thru the hood, although anything past Seminary towards San Leandro is a bit too far (and too hood) for me.

Oh, and please advise if the corn tortillas at your recommended place are handmade or machinemade. ETZ's handmade versions are stupendous IMO, but then again I've never eaten in East LA or Mexico.
