To celebrate an anniversary, wife and I dined last night at Carlucci - Downers Grove. Our experience was excellent. When Phil Vettel first reviewed this location, he mentioned a 3-plate sampler of appetizers and they are worth trying. We had Roasted Sea Scallops with Guanciale, mozzarelle wrapped in prosciutto, and salmon dressed with greens. Price is about $22, but it serves 2 very well and gives a good intro to their menu. Main courses: wife had halibut special - fresh piece of fish covered with EVOO sauteed cut vegetables. Mine was sliced leg of lamb with mashed potatoes - thin but flavorful slices of of lamb done just right. Desserts include standard tiramisu, chocolate cake, and crunchy cannoli. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficicient. Although John Colletta is no longer chef, his successor continues a good tradition and spent time mingling with diners. They serve a nice house Pinot Grigio.
