Made another trip to Carl's for a cheesesteak after a couple drinks last night. After a tour of the renowned cheesesteak places in Philly last May, Carl's is the closest thing to a Philly cheesesteak that I've run across in NYC and the best I've found too. Order it the traditional way onions and cheesewhiz, but double up on the whiz for another fifty cents.

If we were in Philly, it might not be the best or something to praise, but we are not there. I don't think that much of Patsy's pizza relative to the other well-known pizza spots in NY, but during my years in Virginia would have praised a Patsy's pie to high heaven if it were available. Alas, I suffered with only Domino's. Carl's is not a fine-dining experience, but it is a good and authentic cheesesteak.
