Caramel candies of past holidays

foodseek | Nov 20, 2010 01:05 PM

The holiday season finds me nostalgic for a Christmas treat we used to enjoy packed in round or square tins decorated with Victorian scenes on the lids. Inside the candy was individually wrapped in foil. The last time I remember enjoying these candies was in the late 1970's. I believe the name of the company was Macintosh/Mcintosh or some such British/Scottish name. Most of the candies were caramels but with different tastes some with hints of vanilla or maple or walnuts. I have done a quick search online but have come up short with any information on this bygone sweet. Does anyone remember these tinned candies and if so what is the proper name for the search? Thank you so much.
