Caramba Mexican Food

I just grabbed lunch from Caramba at 78 Second Street in the Financial District. The taqueria appears to be pretty clean inside, with a wide range of offerings, including specials not on the menu posted inside the restaurant that I did not recognize and do not remember seeing at other Mexican restaurants. They also offer the option of adding french fries in your burrito for an extra $1. They also have "SoCal" specialities like nacho fries.

My chile relleno burrito with fries added in was unfortunately not too tasty, but was quite big and filling. The chile relleno itself had a nice egg-based batter, but I could not taste much of a pepper flavor from the burrito. The fries were fried to order and are of the thin type.

The restaurant has a salsa bar offering several types of salsa, including an especially tasty and spicy chipotle pepper salsa. On Wednesdays, they offer complimentary horchata with your purchase. I really liked their salsa so will give them another try with one of their meat filled burritos next time.
