Just another London recommendation. This time back in London's ultra fashionable Shoreditch and Hoxton area.
Cantaloupe just off Great Eastern St,( nearest tube Old St ) looks very unpromising from the front as you stare through the window of what is ostensibly a pub filled with achingly trendy dot.Com 'ers who have all parked their micro scooters out side and stand there in their 3/4 length trousers drinking poor lagers and nitro keg beers ( proof if it were needed of the existence of Satan )
But, brave your way through this crowd and at the back of this pub is a small but exceptionally well run litle restaurant. Noisy, but bearable and with a great wine list (predominantly spanish ) full of bargains. The menu is small but well chosen. Great peppers stuffed with Crab, good steaks and more than a few vegetarian options. Service was also very good and all for about $100 for two.
As you can tell, I really enjoyed this place and as it was somewhere I had gone to on a whim, all the more a pleasant experience.
