Cambridge must-haves (for a 'hound from LA)

cobalt | Mar 6, 2006 01:41 AM

I'll be visiting in about a month and I've been perusing the board this weekend but I'd like to get an overall take on must-haves in Cambridge, or nearby (or at least train-close if it's truly suberb and worth the hassle.)

Intersted in Thai, Japanese (sushi/sashimi/izakaya...,) Italian, and especially good seafood places (lobster, oysters, clams, cioppino, etc.)

An upscale place or two for dinner would be nice, but mostly looking for great food at a great price in a fun, casual environment. I'll probably be staying at the Hyatt in Cambridge, if that matters.

I was in town last year about the same time and had a great Italian meal about 10 minutes by cab from the hotel but despite my efforts I can't come up with the name. I know it was above a rail line, that's about it. I've looked at about 10 websites based on clues here on the board but the dinner was paid for myself and co-workers by a vendor and so I don't have any record of the name of the place and my co-workers are no help. : (

I also had lunch one day just before flying out at the Salty Dog at Quincy Mkt., which I thought was quite good. I think I had cioppino and a couple Sam Adams' which made for a comfortable flight home.

That's it for the hightlights from last year, not much really I know! Thus this post. : )

Thanks in advance.
