Cambria Dining Report

We recently spent a very blustery (50 mph winds) day in beautiful Cambria. We were planning on having lunch at Bistro Sole, but there was so much road work going on in front of the restaurant, we opted for the Moonstone Bar & Grill.

They have gone through a major remodeling project inside and the place is gorgeous. A new bar with granite countertops, new bathrooms and a very nice lounge area. We opted to sit outside at the rail and brave the wind!

I started with the clam chowder which was excellent, followed by the fish tacos with huge, chunks of very nicely prepared halibut. It is served with a side of salsa and some zesty dipping sauce. Very yummy! One of my favorite lunch spots.

For my birthday dinner, I chose the Sow's Ear Cafe, which has always been wonderful. I started with the herb ahd cheese stuffed mushrooms that were delightful, but a little filling. We had no problem finishing off the entire plate.

Next was the house salad served with a very nice honey-lime dressing. Lots of curly carrot swirls and grated cabbage which I loved. For my entree I chose the salmon in parchment paper which was excellent, paired with a very nice Pinot Noir which was very fragrant and silky smooth. Served with sides of garlic mashed potatoes and steamed squash.

For my birthday dessert, they brought out a complimentary rich, chocolate cheesecake with a little dallop of whipped cream and a candle. Served with an edible flower which was actually very good. It was the perfect celebration of eating, shopping and relaxing on Moonstone beach and being with my wonderful husband. Bon Appetit! ***kim***
