california dreaming (eating)

hello everyone! i just returned from my nice week long plus trip from san fran and LA, and i just wanted to let you know it was a blast. i had requested some restaurant/eatery suggestions, and you were all very helpful, many thanks...so i was on a mission to find the (el tonayese?) taco truck in the mission on 22nd (i think) and harrison. i took two buses there, no problem at all, and i finally saw the truck. it was like the light at the end of the tunnel. mostly workers ordering food there. i had the al pastor and the good ole standby, carne asada. both were very yummy, the meat very tender, and the salsa verde pretty much perfect (gotta love the salsa verde). i was curious about the tripe taco, since i had read earlier on here someone totally raving about it. i held out at the truck, but i passed the taqueria on the way back, and gave in. boy i'm glad i did! it was my favorite one to say the least...i didnt even think of it as eating intestines. i'm kind of mad though i didnt have more time in san fran (only 2 full days) but i crammed much sighseeing in. i also had the breadbowl chowder at this place called fisherman's grotto #9 or something like that. i had asked a cop which place he recommended for chowder, but i bet most of them are pretty good. okay, more to come later!
