To Miles and Sunnyside--thanks for your guidance in helping us to enjoy your wonderful city. We stayed at the Palliser and didn't find it at all musty--in fact, the hospitality and service were about perfect and our rooms were beautiful. I've never been in a hotel in my life where the elevators arrived so swiftly. We breakfasted happily at the various Nellies, depending on where we were sightseeing , and loved all of our meals at other venues. Your chinatown is great--we loved Harbor House and also a Japanese spot where we ate great Sushi and noodle dishes(I forgot the name of it--but it was packed with happy eaters and the price was right.) We bought cheese at a really cool cheese store off of 17th, as well as a lot of tea in another really cool tea store. We had a fabulous lunch at Brava Bistro, and bought wonderful chocolates from Bernard something or other. The reason we went to the chocolate store is that we had dinner one night in a restaurant on 9th Ave. called Jacqueline Suzanne which was run by a really nice couple and they served a chocolate dessert using their chocolate which was probably the best chocolate anything I've ever eaten. The restaurant is only a couple of months old and I highly recommend it. We also had good Lebanese food at Mediterranean House on first avenue near the hotel. Just couldn't get over what a diverse population Calgary has and such a wide variety of eating options. We'll be back.
