I had a delightful discovery yesterday, I just have to share.
I stumbled upon a bare bones business calling itself, Bourbon Street Gumbo Company. Located on southbound Gratiot, just north of Nine Mile, in Eastpointe.
Dined in for lunch on a half Shrimp Po-Boy. Very large sandwich with terrific shrimp. Didn't get it fully dressed--only shredded lettuce and aioli. Served on a colorful dinner plate with real silverware. Pricey at $12.95, but a lot of food.
Thinking of dinner, I ordered a 32 oz take out serving of what the proprietors call: Andrea's Famous Jambalaya. This serving size was $19.95. But two of us shared it for dinner, and there's left overs for breakfast this morning. The taste of this jambalaya took us back to New Orleans and the wonderful time we had at Coops Place. It was just that authentic.
Many other cajun/creole choices on the menu so I'm planning a return.
BSGC is at 23043 Gratiot.
Opens for lunch at 11 AM. Closed Sundays
