We had a lovely time at Caffe Casta Diva last night. We arrived at 7:30pm and were seated promptly, although the person with whom I had spoken on the phone had said we might have to wait until 7:40pm or so. The atmosphere is warm and attractive, the service is very good and the food is wonderful. Thanks to Sylvia, I avoided the caeser salad. I know I wouldn't have liked it the way they serve it. Instead, I had a carrot soup which was one of the specials. It was creamy and delicious. Had some very tasty spinach in the middle. My husband had a roasted beet salad which had walnuts and pear. He said it was excellent. For entrees, he had the veal medallions (also a special) and I ordered the gnocchi with an alfredo sauce. The gnocchi were light pillows and the sauce was yummy. I wanted to mention that all of the vegetables, including the peas in my alfredo sauce, tasted very fresh. My husband's veal medallions were a bit different from what he expected (they were rolled around a spinach and cheese filling) but he liked them very much. For dessert, we shared a cannoli. I agree with Sylvia that it didn't taste like ricotta, but it was good. The bill, after tax and before tip, was an amazingly low $56. Very nice experience. We will definitely return. BTW, when were were leaving (around 9:00pm), there was a line of people waiting in the heated hallway just outside of the restaurant.
