My partner and I went to Cafe Pleiade on Mount Pleasant for the $10 Winterlicious lunch on Monday. We were greeted and seated promptly. I had the soup of the day, which was lentil and spinach, and my partner had a plate of green salad. We both ordered beef bourguignonne as our mains. For dessert, I had the pie of the day which was apple crumble, and my partner had the bread pudding.
This was our second visit to Cafe Pleiade, and as with the last visit, we were really impressed with the quality, as well as the quantity, of the food. Appetizer was a fair size, the beef in our main was really tender and the sauce rich in flavour. My apple pie came with a light maple icing which added a wonderful character to the dessert.
In sum, the food is nothing fancy, but the quality of each item is quite high, showing how much the chef pays attention to his food. I believe many people would agree, as the restaurant was quite packed on a Monday afternoon.
