Anchoring the east side of Laurel Village on California Street, Cafe Lo Cubano replaces the former MIz Brown's Feed Bag - a coffee bar with pastries and sandwiches - "savory food by Johnny Alamilla's Alma". At 4pm this afternoon, nearly every seat was taken - it appears that the neighborhood has embraced the concept!
My $7 Pressed Cuban sandwich was indeed "savory" with slices of pork, ham, and cheese (5-5/8oz.) with a serving of black bean and rice salad (2-1/2 oz.)as a garnish -and a Cafe con Leche, $2.50.
Need a caffeine boost? Now, there's Cafe Lo Cubano, Peet's, Rigolo, Starbucks, and AG Ferrari, too.
