Cafe Cacao

Robert Lauriston | Nov 27, 200411:53 AM

Went to Scharffen Berger's Cafe Cacao for lunch yesterday. About half the items on the menu was out because they're changing next week, so we all got the excellent press-grilled Niman ham and cheese sandwich with housemade pear mostarda and baby arugula salad, and shared an order of the fabulous fresh-fried potato chips.

Desserts were disappointing. We shared a pot de creme, which turned out to be a demitasse full of ganache, and a pave, which to my taste was insipid (needed a touch of salt in the batter). The hot chocolate was better than the hot cocoa but I could make better at home with Pernigotti.
