Chef Tommy Harase, the reigning genius of fusion cooking, will depart from Café Blanc at the end of the year. Unfortunately, as of last nite, he does not know what he will do or where he will do it. I encourage LA hounds to do 2 things:
1. Get to CB before he leaves, and
2. If & when any hound finds out where he lands, post immediately so those Grubbers of us who are long-time Harase camp-followers can enjoy his work once again.
La Grubbe-san & I enjoyed our last tango at CB last nite. Simply exquisite. A fish-dominated $60 tasting menu for La Grubbe; seared foie gras, curried oysters, rack of lamb for Le Grub-san. Every dish complex w/o being fussy, perfectly balanced, perfectly cooked, flat-out beautiful, & sparklingly delicious. Flawless service.
A bottle of champagne w 1st few courses, our own St. Emilion w last few ($5 corkage). Cappuccino, port. Whole deal set us back about $150 before tax & tip. A raging bargain.
