Cacio e Pepe

Just tried this new? Italian restaurant on 2nd Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets. The namesake dish is served from a semi-hollowed round of pecorino di Fossa cheese. The server brings the round containing tonnaerelli pasta with pepper to your table, and scrapes the cheese into the pasta and places it all onto your plate. That alone made me love this place. The pasta was a little too salty for my taste (a problem I have too often), but it was still a good dish. Started with a delicious salad of baby spinach, goat cheese, watermelon, and almonds, dressed in oil and vinegar. Great prices, very cozy, wonderful service, fantastic Sardinian wine. Solid neighborhood place with a menu that distinguishes itself from those of the ubiquitous Italian restaurants in the neighborhood.
