Where To Buy Sugar Cane Stalks in San Gabriel/Alhambra/Monterey Park Area?

A little background -

I like to bbq. I sometimes bbq with sugar cane stalks. Yes, you heard that right, I bbq with sugar cane stalks sometimes. I used to grow sugar cane but it started to get all over and looked like a mess so I took it out. Big mistake. So now I have to buy sugar cane and it's hard to get. I am going to start growing it again but I need a stalk first to start growing it and I want a bunch so I can bbq chicken with it. I lay charcoals down and lay the cane on top of it and it smokes it.

I always hear people say go to a Mexican market or Asian market and find it. Well I've done that, no luck. I recall at the downtown area about Alameda and Olympic sometimes you find it but if I can find it in the MP/Alhambra/SG area I'll prefer that. Even in downtown in the produce area they don't have it sometimes.

I saw some at the Alhambra farmer's market but it was 3 bucks for 1/3 of a stalk. That's way too much money. Sure I could buy one and start it in a pot of soil to start growing it but I feel ripped off paying $3 for 1/3 a stock. That stuff grows like weeds once you start it so the grower probably has tons of it so I think he's over charging.

At the South Pasadena farmers market a guy used to sell some growing in a pot and I bought it and tried to grow it but I neglected it and it died. Before that as noted above I used to grow in successfully. I have not seen the old man at the South Pas FM lately so I can't buy a pot of it from him.

So bottom line have any of you seen it sold at any stores, doesn't matter American, Mexican, Asian stores, any stores? I need to buy some to bbq then grow so I have more to bbq with.

Thank You
