Lately I've been interested in the butcher shops in Jackson Heights. I think specifically Argentinian, but I have a hard time deciphering if that's what they really are. Are there others?
I believe I went to Carniceria Hispanoamericana today. I couldnt read the sign, but it is located at 8922 37th Ave. It seemed very good, and my short ribs tasted great - but it may just have been a good cooking day... IT WAS definitely an adventure, whereas my limited spanish was kicked into gear. I'd like to try more of what they have.
I'm looking for some insight to butchers like this. Also, there is boina roja around 81st on 37th... and I've heard about Don Francesco's, but haven't been inside. (he is only open weekends??)
The prices seem elusive. Less than half of the items had prices on them. Is there a list somewhere? How do the customers know?
also, what are they especially good at? what makes these different? are some grass fed?
any information would be helpful. Thanks. This is so interesting to me.
Here's a broader thread on the subject
