burned prosciutto-wrapped roast

I followed a recipe by Ina Garten just as it was written, but my prosciutto drippings burned (and smoked heavily) while the pork tenderloin was roasting. I'm new to cooking. How do I prevent this from happening next time? The flavor was great--but not the smoke alarm going off during Christmas dinner preparations, or dining with all the windows open in December!
