So recently I discovered what was easily the best burger of my life.
It was at Bonne Sante in Burlingame. Its a little place that opened up a little less than a year ago on Broadway. When you walk in it looks like its just a sandwich joint with only a few tables and a giant flat screen TV. Nothing in the white and chrome décor says burger joint. Yet thats what everyone seems to come there for.
My boyfriend and I shared, thats right SHARED, the $5.45 hamburger, and it was still too much food. I asked afterwards and was told it was an 8-10 ounce patty. It arrived divided in two, which was nice since we hadnt even specified we were sharing. (I suspicion its always cut in half since it might otherwise be too big to handle). The burgers cooked perfectly, and the clincher is that its topped with a sun-dried tomato relish. It tastes delish without, but the relish it makes it all the more flavorful.
The burger comes with chips, or for an extra 50 cents you can get fries. The order of fries is so big, three people could easily share it. Theyre about halfway between thin-cut frites and steak-cut fries on the fry spectrum, so theyre just about perfectly awesome as the best of both fry worlds.
Their sandwiches comprise the rest of their menu, and look really good, too. I did see a few people with them, though everyone else was mowing their way through their burgers.
Bonne Sante makes the best burger that Ive ever had, and its just icing on the cake (or burger as the case may be) that its super cheap and split-able. For your $6 MEAL FOR TWO, check out:
