So I went to Buddakan this past Saturday night...overall, I had a great experience. Let me tell you, this is definitely one of the restaurants you go to to be seen. At the front door, there is a man with a clipboard asking for your reservation. So apparently, unless you don't have a res, you're not coming in. Then you proceed inside, to what looks like a hotel concierge desk. There again, you check in with them. I was waiting for a friend of mine, so I made my way to the bar. They have a short cocktail list, about 5 drinks or so. I ordered one called "Charm." It was a prosecco drink with berries. Very tasty, at $12. Finally, my friend shows up and orders the same thing. Her bartender charged her $9.75. Thoroughly confused...maybe he just thought she was cute? It was listed on the menu at $11.
Anyway, everyone in the restaurant was extremely well-dressed. Just about every guy in the place was wearing a sport jacket. We waited about 15 minutes, then were seated in the red vase room. We got to sneak a peek at the main dining room downstairs. It was incredible to say the least.
The menu was fairly your typical asian fusion. We ordered the rock shrimp appetizer, beef lettuce cups, and shrimp dumplings to start. All were good, nothing mind-blowing. Then I ordered the short ribs entree that came with a very salty mushroom chow fun. The short ribs were amazing, as lean as short ribs can be. We also got the crab fried rice. WAY too much salt, but tasty. We opted out of dessert, we barely finished what we ordered!
Overall, incredible space and extremely friendly service. Prices were as expected. In fact, I definitely think they could have gotten away with charging $5 more per entree.
