We are making plans for a mid-spring vacation (2006) to Budapest Hungary, Istanbul Turkey and, hopefully, to the Istrian peninsula of Croatia.
We love fine dining but we also want to eat what the local people eat. We are adventurous dinners!
We have been to Budapest a number of times and really love the food and the city. But we're eager to try new places.
Any tips on good eats in Budapest? (Weve been to Gundel, Karpatia, Bagolyvár étterem, Náncsi Néni Vendéglõje, Szepvolgyi Restaurant but there is so much more.)
Istanbul and Istria will be new to us. I imagine some Croatian food is similar to Hungarian cuisine but I'm not at all familiar with Turkish cuisine. A good friend prefers Turkish cuisine to Greek cuisine but since Ive only had (Canadian) Greek, I cant comment.
Any tips on where and what to eat in Istanbul? This may be our only trip to Istanbul. Is there some place that is an absolute "must?"
Finally, any suggestions for Istria? We'll spend some time in Pula and may visit Fiume and Trieste.
I welcome all your suggestions for fine dining, good food and good wines.
