Buckwheat cookies from NY Times

I wonder if anyone else out there has tried the buckwheat cookie recipe that appeared in the NY Times a month or so ago.

And if anyone else found that the batter doesn't come together after adding the egg yolks. Seems like there's some liquid missing. I improvised, adding water until the dough formed. They're in the oven now. We'll see how they turn out.
