Brunch at Prune

Howdy all,

Had a post-worthy brunch at Prune this weekend - by far the best I've had at a non-dineresque establishment in the 5 boroughs in the past few years. Cocktail list was extensive & well conceived. As a generally non-vodka girl, I was pleased by my Southwest (Bloody w/ tequila) and the inclusion of the Caesar on the menu and deeply amused by the beer chaser that came with each.

As for the meal itself - tongue omelette was an curious, yet ultimately successful study in texture contrasts and tasty to boot, but the real highlight was a marrowbone with butter-drenched toast to spoon the contents onto. Yum. Side of grainy breads was tasty but not outstanding (likely just Rubschlager). Tall, crisp cinnamon twists on the table were a gentle sweet, and a satisfying counterpoint to end of the meal salty licorice coins. My dining companion was quite fond of her web scrambled eggs and sublimely crunchy bacon and, being a vodka-lovin' girl, was not in the least opposed to her Citron based Bloody.

Service was deeply charming, and the whole experience left me eager to return.

Saddened to have missed the No Idea outing, but had to dash to pick up a pal at the airport at the last sec. Next time!
