Thanks to my earlier post, I visited the Oregon Grille in Hunt Valley, MD this past Sunday. It was an excellent choice for what I was looking for-- a traditional brunch menu in a classic atmosphere (it was my parents 40th anniversary-- not the adventurous dining types).
I thought it was worth reporting back, as the service was outstanding... at least by my Philadelphia standards. Although they were out of lobster, the menu choices were a nice combination of chesapeake seafoods and classic items. We started out with shrimp bisque, cream of crab soup, and a fabulous cheesy/smoky twist on clams casino. We moved on to entrees of crab hash with beef tenderloin, malted belgian waffles with perfectly ripe strawberries, classic eggs benedict, and a crabcake with broccoli slaw.
However, my main reason for posting my report was the dessert. I had the BEST key lime pie for dessert. Now mind you, I am tough critic of key lime pie and don't bother ordering much farther north than mile marker 2. This had a perfectly buttery graham cracker crust, a perfect pale yellow custard, and was topped by fresh whipped cream. I would make the trip back for that alone!
For four of us without drinks, the bill ran about $120. I would love to visit again in the warmer weather for outside seating.
