Brunch item

We actually had it for a late breakfast with scrambled eggs, however, found that with a dollop of whipped cream, it tastes like lemon cream pie (with much fewer calories)

Easy to make because it's just French toast with special i ngredients.

Trader Joe's Lemon Sourdough Bread
Cardamon (powdered spice)

For five or six slices, use two large eggs, @ 3/4 level tsp (or less) cardamom, 1/4 cup milk.

That's it - just make it like French Toast.

Top with:

(1) Very small amount of Trader Joe's lemon curd (or thin with water to make a syrup) Top this with whipped cram and it tastes like lemon cream pie.

(2) Very small amount of Dickenson's brand Black Raspberry jam (or thin with water to make a syrup.

It was even good plain with butter. The curd or jam is what sweetens it up quite a bit.

We were just experimenting. Tried with with maple syrup (typical for pan breads), but that disguises and does not compliment the lemon flavor.

All of us (three) found this simple french toast dish very delicious and a good brunch item. Not to may calories and very little fat content, too.

The cardemom spice mixed with a sugar cookie recipe topped with a dollop of lemon curd or black raspberry jam before baking is great, too.

We liked it.
