Visited The Bristol Yard today for brunch. The group was four plus a toddler.
The place is tiny but very clean and has a good vibe to it. Pretentious, it isn't.
We got off to a rough start: even though we were there less than hour after open, they were out of both scones and breakfast pies. Thats two entire categories of the menu not available.
Between the four of us, we had the Maradona (an Argentinian style steak breakfast), the Glasgow (a breakfast cheeseburger of sausage and eggs on potato bread), the Bristol (eggs benedict with a cheese sauce instead of hollandaise), and the Glastonbury (mushrooms with poached eggs and spinach/herb sauce).
The food was really good: it isn't light fare, but it wasn't excessively greasy. The presentation was nice and everything was cooked properly. Everything was well seasoned.
Service was OK but not particularly helpful. A member of our group asked for hot sauce for his eggs. They refused because they save it for the Eggs St George (seriously hot eggs benedict). That to me is unforgivable: "we have it, but we are not going to give it to you even at an additional fee." We ordered toast for the toddler but they don't provide jam. That one, they just don't have at all.
Breakfast for 4, each with coffee/tea, an additional OJ, and a side of toast was $61 including tax but not tip. I would go back.
