Thanks to kissywats for posting the brown rice recipe from Cook's Illustrated back in August. I printed it out and finally got around to trying it and at last I have made brown rice that is not sticky and gluey! Below is a link to the original thread. I used TJ's brown and wild rice mix, followed the directions and used the suggested proportion of liquid to rice, added a bit of sesame paste to the liquid, and when it was cooked I tossed in minced basil and olives and toasted pine nuts. It was perfect. I'll be trying it with some of the other types of brown rice (and perhaps barley and other grains?) that have been languishing in my pantry.
