Brooklyn Fare: Excellent take-out

Tonight I checked-out Brooklyn Fare at 200 Schmerhorn St. on the corner of Hoyt. I got a portion of broccoli rabe, yellow corn with Epazote, honey mustard salmon, sauteed baby yellow summer squash and a roast chicken. I also sampled the broccoli slaw and a green bean salad. Everything was really fresh tasting and delicious. Everything was cooked exactly right, the corn was right off the cob and very sweet, the salmon was perfect, and so was the broccoli rabe. The samples of broccoli slaw and green bean salad were great: The green bean salad had pistachio nuts and though that might sound strange, it worked. There were some other interesting items in the case such as eggplant lasagna and some pastas that looked good. Someone came round and gave me a sample of smoked duck breast that was very smoky and flavorful, it almost tasted like bacon. All the food in the case is labeled with the ingredients. I think the prices are very, very fair. They have a bunch of interesting sounding sandwiches as well. There is a meat case and a fish case as well as fresh produce, I didn't really examine those areas, but everything looked fresh.
