A couple years back I saw an edition of Huell Houser's PBS show that was about a local dairy that was famous for it's eggnog. You may also have seen that ep. It's called Broguiere's Dairy in Montebello, and anybody who has seen that show simply MUST try it. Last year I did so, making the long trip to the dairy, an all-day safari for me. I bought three glass bottles, and enjoyed them immensly. (I found 1/2oz of brandy per bottle made it taste even better.) It also makes good, inexpensive casual gifts, like for casual friends and co-workers. I'd sure like to score some more this year, but I don't want to make that trip out there again. I know it's carried in some markets thruout the Southland, but I have been unable to find a DEPENDABLE source for it. I found a Von's in Hollywood that is supposed to carry it, but I went twice, and they'd sold out. I ask when they had it, and they shrugged. They'd get a few bottles in, which would quickly sell out, and that's it. Maybe they're taking lessons from Europane ;) My local Whole Foods carries Broguiere's regular milk in bottles, but can't make any promises about the nog. The dairy itself can't give me a straight answer, apparently they don't handle distribution. I'd like to know from you good folks if 1) you know a good, dependable source for Broguiere's eggnog in the Glendale-Hollywood area, or 2) if there is ANOTHER good eggnog available locally that you can recommend. Thanks!
