I suppose I should've seen this coming, being that I'll be seeing a transplanted NYer on my upcoming Christmas visit to Glasgow. There's been a request for bagels, and now I'm obsessed with getting them there as fresh as possible. Specifically, I'm leaving on an 8:30pm flight on Tues 23 Dec, arriving in the UK at 8am on 24 Dec. My last possibility for buying is about 4pm on Tues, on my way to Newark. The burning question is....do I buy them fresh on, say, early Monday morning 22 Dec(the last time I can go in the morning, when I assume they're freshest - I live in the 'burbs, BTW, so it's not like I can hit an H&H-type place, which is more likely to bake throughout the day), freeze them, then take them out of the freezer on my way to work on Tues. OR...do I buy them on Tues afternoon, on my way to the airport?
Please advise, anyone. As you can tell, I'm probably spending far too much time thinking about this.
