Our daughter's first big trip to a city with no resident family is planned for May - we are bringing her to Chicago, which has been an extraordinarily happy destination for me over the years. We are staying at the Fairmont. I have a couple of days set with things I know will appeal to her, but have about a day and a half still open. She loves the ethnic food I cook at home, but has little restaurant experience given that we live in the middle of nowhere - it is 13 miles to McDonalds, which is both a blessing and a diagnosis. I think a place with a market/restaurant/visible kitchen would appeal to her. Her fave foods are Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Kansas (don't singe the beef). Which meal, where would be a "don't miss" for such a heady trip?
