Some years ago, I used to be in the Fort Lee area quite often. On Fort Lee Rd., just west of the main business district, before it crosses under Rt. 46, there was a small retail fish store, which also served cooked meals at a few tables. I have never forgotten the sign in the window. On a small chalkboard, it bore a somewhat mysterious message which read, in its entirety: "Bring your own stupid wine!"
This was so striking and amusing that I used to ride past occasionally and check to make sure I hadn't misread it, or even imagined the whole thing.
The store is long gone, and I never got to inquire about the origins and exact intent of this message. Does anyone out there, by chance, remember seeing this -- or even better, know anything about the author's mindset?
